# OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and other API keys

> Add a plain API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI Studio, Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI, Groq and others, and how its models become callable.

Most providers need only an API key.

## Steps

1. Create a key in the provider's console:
   - **OpenAI:** platform.openai.com → API keys.
   - **Anthropic:** console.anthropic.com → API keys.
   - **Google AI Studio:** aistudio.google.com → Get API key.
   - **Others** (Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI, Groq, Together AI, Fireworks AI and the rest of the [list](/docs/keys#providers)): their console's API keys page.
2. In the DigitSpace dashboard, open **Provider keys → Add a provider key**, choose the provider and paste the key.
3. Save. DigitSpace checks the key by reading the provider's model list with it, and saves that list as models you can call.

## Calling it

Nothing changes in your code. Call models as usual, by ID or with `auto`. Requests for that provider's models use your key whenever the project's payment setting allows it ([Own keys, or Own keys, then credits](/docs/concepts#credits-or-your-own-keys)).

To make sure a request uses this provider, pin it:

```json
{ "model": "openai/gpt-6-luna", "messages": [ … ] }
```

The request's detail in [Activity](/docs/dashboard/activity) shows **Billed to** your key rather than credits.

## When it stops working

If the provider rate-limits the key or errors, requests fail over to the next offer, which may be on credits under **Own keys, then credits**. If it rejects the key outright (revoked, or no billing set up), the provider's error is returned and nothing is retried. Fix or replace the key under **Provider keys**. **Disable** keeps a key without using it; **Delete** removes it.

> **Note:** Requests on your own key can use the provider's own extras that are removed on credits: OpenAI's `service_tier` and `web_search_options`, provider-side tools, and Anthropic's `anthropic-beta` header.
